Will's Worms Birthday Cake

Well Yesterday was my Son Will's Birthday
and he wanted yet another Worm's cake!
(as in the "Worms" game)
if you recall I made him one last year.

This one is only a 6" barrel sized cake
because we have only just moved here and had
just a couple of friends round for a
slice of cake
.....so next year we will do the full on Birthday party for him!

This maybe only a small cake but Will absolutely loved it!

The cake is a Vanilla sponge with rosewater buttercream
and all the toppers are handmade and made from sugar.

Tonight I will be opening a bottle of wine and having a slice of Will's cake
as today is my birthday and I intend on doing absolutely nothing else! :o) lol!

Thanks for stopping by!

First Batch of cakes in Germany

Well, we have been living in Germany for almost 4 weeks now!
I don't know where the time has gone!
I love it here! just got to get used to the language so I feel more confident
being out and about when someone starts talking to me lol!
but the locals all seem very friendly!

These little gems were made for my hubby's work colleagues
as I am using different ingredients so need to perfect the recipe.
Cupcakes are Zesty Lemon Sponge with Lemony Buttercream,
covered in a blanket of Pale Eucalyptus fondant and decorated with pastel pink blossoms.

Thanks for stopping by!

Lou & Steve's Vintage Wedding

These were the samples I made for Lou & Steve's Wedding consultation
a while ago now
(surprising how quickly time flies by!)
Such a lovely couple and an absolute pleasure to work with!
They weren't sure what they wanted but they did want it vintage looking
and pale/nude pink.

A beautiful mix of vintage cupcakes & shabby chic coconut topped cupcakes,
with some paper lace wrappers jotted here and there
...............sooo pretty!
with a 2 tier top cutting cake!

This top cake is chocolate with chocolate ganache
and decorated with a sweet pea type flower
to co-ordinate with the cupcakes!
These cookies were used as place settings/favours
designed to carry on the vintage theme!
Colours used were Nude Pink & Pale Ivory/cream.

Army Theme Birthday Tower

Loved making this order!
...for a 3 time returning customer (which is always good!)
This is the second birthday cake I have made for this
particular little boy,
the last cake was a jungle theme....something tells me he likes green! lol!

Here are some of the Boots cupcakes,
how cute are these! :o)

These are the mini tanks

and finally the hand grenades!
I did make little rifles too but forgot to photograph them separately!
Everything on this cake and cupcakes are all edible and handmade
including the large tank topper!

Thank you for taking the time to look at my blog

Daisy & Sea Shell Cupcake Tower #2

Saturday's Wedding Cake Order.
You may well recognise that the design is quite similar to one I made last year!
but with a few teaks here and there with the design and colours
.......and a pretty little crystal clam with a pearl topper,
it makes it that little more personal to the couple

I love these daisies,
they are very delicate but so simply pretty!
and with making some of my own sea shell moulds
they are that little bit more special!

A close-up on the detail of the top cutting cake.

This photo was taken at the venue at the
Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth
(on the seafront)
but because I couldn't set up the cakes til after 6.30 pm
the lighting wasn't the best,
but they still look pretty!
such a shame I couldn't capture the
twinkling effect the sun gave on these!

I saw the bride & groom yesterday and they said
with the dark evening background (being after 9pm)
and the pretty lighting over the cakes they looked beautiful!
hope they can get some photos to me :o)

Thank you all for taking the time to look at these photos
and really hope you like them as much as I do!

Handbag & Shoes Birthday Cake

This was a last minute order for the ladies daughter's 21st Birthday.

As you can see by the design that Adrianne
absolutely loves designer handbags and shoes!

I really enjoyed making this cake
and if Adrianne loves it as much as her mother did when she collected the cake
I will be very happy!
The cake is a Zesty Lemon 7" decorated with handmade sugar decorations!

Golden Wedding Anniversary Cake

This cake was made for my friends parents
who were celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversay!
They are an amazing couple and I really wanted
to make them something quite special!

5" Top Tier was a Victoria Sponge,
7" Middle Tier was a Rich and Boozy Fruit Cake
and the 10" Bottom Tier was a Zesty Lemon Sponge.

Each rose was dusted with edible gold dust
gradually getting lighter towards the outer petals
and the blossoms had gold centres.

They absolutely loved this cake as did all their guests.
I was lucky enough to be invited to the party
and it we all had a fabulous time!

Zebra Striped Cupcake Tower

These were ordered by a returning customer
(fourth time returning)
for her sisters 40th Birthday
who is a Newcastle Fan
another reason for the black & white design.

The cupcake design with the single flowers
I have made before and they wanted these,
but because they were for a cupcake tower I wanted to make
half of them with a couple of flowers on, just to add a little more interest.

The top Cupcake cutting cake was hand carved to look like a large replica
of the smaller cupcakes.
The zebra striped case is made of fondant (sugarpaste)
and hand painted for the effect.

These were collected and taken all the way up to Newcastle.

I love this design!

Champagne Bottle Cake

I was asked to make a Champagne Bottle Cake
for a couple who were Celebrating their 40th (Ruby) Wedding Anniversary

The cake is a vanilla sponge filled with Rose Water Buttercream
and carved into shape.

To give the bottle the frosted tones
I airbrushed it and was really pleased with the results!

The cake measures (at widest point)
13cms x 33cms

Dolly's 100th Birthday Cake

What an honour it was to be asked to make a local Lady
her Birthday cake for her
100th Birthday!

The Grand-daughter wanted something quite simple
but special and the most important thing
was for it to be a chocolate cake!
......she LOVES chocolate! lol!

The Grand-daughter loved it when she came to collect it
and I hope Dolly enjoyed it too!
Unfortunately, Dolly wouldn't be able to see it
as she has lost her sight,
so the taste will be the most important part!!!!

More Miliary Cupcakes

I have made quite a few Military cupcakes lately,
but because I have done the same ones
time and time again,
I didn't want to bore you with the
same kind of photos!
But I haven't made the ones pictured above
so thought I would share these!

They were made for a tabletop meeting they were having
and they look and taste so much better than the usual biscuits
to accompany their tea & coffee!

I ran out of edible silver paint
but luckily I had some edible silver leaf,
so I used that instead and love it!!!!

12 Feb 2012

A lovely couple ordered this Birthday cake
for their daughter
as a gift from their grand-daughters to present to their mummy.

They thought it would be lovely to have Willow & Blossom on the cake
as this is the birthday girls, daughters names!
also, she has a shop of which she makes & sells (mainly) silver jewellery
....hence the silver butterfly!

They Loved it when they came to collect the cake
and said there will most probably be tears when she
is presented it from her daughters who are 5 & 2 years old.

This is the view of the Weeping Willow from the back!

I very much like the personal feel to this cake!
